What an amazing day of Pride celebrations at Carnegie Community Centre on July 20th!
Storytelling with Drag Queens! A unicorn cake! Wearable art!
We were thrilled to join the fun with our 'Wear Your Pride' art / button making station in Carnegie's lobby!
The Pride buttons were hugely popular, with everyone from children to adults and Elders selecting from a combination of templates and creating their own beautiful art!
Amdist joyful creation and conversations about the power of art in building connections across difference, we stopped to strike a pose with the visiting Drag dignitaries.
Carnegie's security joined in on the creative festivities, making their own Pride buttons. Elder in Residence Les Nelson also dropped by for a button!
July 20th was a historic day at Carnegie with the first ever Drag Show! We have a feeling it's going to become tradition. We can't wait for next year!
A big shout out to Doris, Beverly and everyone involved in creating such a special day! And much admiration for the beautiful Pride decor in the lobby, created by the wonderful Oppenheimer Parks staff! Can you spot our little addition?
