What an incredible fall it's been at Carnegie Centre!
Carnegie patrons, other DTES community members, staff and youth joined us to make the most beautiful lanterns for the Heart of the City festival opening and Diwali!
This year's festival theme is "Holding the Light" and what better way to welcome in the light than handmade lanterns?
The main floor of Carnegie is clearly the place to be! We were busy though the day with a steady stream of people making beautiful connections and art!
On October 30th, the day we'd been waiting for arrived! The Heart of the City festival opening! What an honour to be a part of the opening and display all the beautiful lanterns made by DTES community members!
And what celebration of lights would be complete without traditional hanging lanterns and the very popular mithai (South Asian sweets)? A huge hit!
The Carnegie Theatre was standing room only with so many new and old friends!
Keep an eye out for the lanterns to make a guest appearance at upcoming solstice celebrations in December!
