Sessions for Art Show Parade off to an exciting start!

On August 8th, we had our first session to create collective art to carry in the Oppenheimer Park annual art show Parade!

Colours, creativity and conversation flowed as did the multiplicity of languages spoken in the DTES!

A key part of our practice as an arts collective is to weave mother tongues into the the community engaged art we help collaboratively create.

Such a beautiful cross section of people joined us to add their creative touches to the art banners! Board members, Carnegie's Elder in Residence, security and parks staff, artists who will be exhibiting in the art show and other wonderful community members came together.

People love our lightweight, easy to carry and vibrantly colourful art banners! During the session, we talked about accessibility and how important it is to create pieces that people can carry with ease, attach to scooters, wheelchairs, strollers and more.

At the heart of Cambium Arts is the understanding that art can be complex and nuanced while being as universally accessible as possible. The DTES community continues to inspire us to dream up new possibilities for making art that is both beautiful and deeply inclusive.

We have two more sessions left. See the details below and join us!
